"Only a few minutes by Underground to London's West End, this major financial and business center, Canary Wharf, is moored like some mini-Manhattan in the heart of the Isle of Dogs. So named after the kennels where King Henry VIII kept his hunting dogs in the sixteenth century and bounded by an extravagant loop in the River Thames." The house is located here on the Isle of Dogs, opposite the new Millennium Dome in Capstan Square, London. Within a few minutes walk you reach one of three local rail stations. Crossharbour, South Quay and Canary Wharf. Trains run every 2mins on the Jubilee Line and every 5 mins on the DLR (Docklands Light Rail). Each stop along the way takes approx 2mins. and all routes link up. Example: Canary Wharf to Westminster is 10 mins. (Map of the Underground is provided in these pages and within the house manual.) River Buses- run during commuter times, every 15 minutes from Canary Wharf to Greenwich Pier and beyond, or into town to Westminster, with stops at points along the way. It's quick and very pleasant and not much more cost than the tube fare. Timetables are available in the house.

Airport- London City Airport is just 3 miles away by Free bus pick up at Canary Wharf. This Airport serves the rest of Europe and most of the capital cities can be reached within a short flight. A walk on shuttle service is available for those busy people. Black taxi's are available everywhere. Remember that 5 people can travel for the same fare so it may well be more cost effective than the collective tube ticket price. Telephone numbers are provided in the house for those most frequently used. Red London Buses- These can be boarded outside the square but they are slower than other forms of transport due to traffic. *Late night buses, N19 will drop off outside the square . At St. Katherine's Dock and The Tower of London, just 3 minutes by train, you may take advantage of the London Tour Buses as well as the River Cruises on offer most days.
